Acclaimed Australian electronic producer Golden Features (AKA Tom Stell) shares GURPAAL’s official remix for his latest single ‘Touch’ featuring Rromarin via Foreign Family Collective / Warner Music Australia.

Following the release of his latest single ‘Touch’, Golden Features has enlisted Brisbane-based producer GURPAAL for an official remix. Featuring Melbourne-based vocalist Rromarin, ‘Touch’ marked Golden Features’ first solo release since his 2018 debut album SECT and the launch of 2020’s collaborative project BRONSON (with ODESZA).

A vibrant mixture of energetic melodies and gritty basslines, GURPAAL puts his club-worthy spin on the track. Bringing a bright contrast to the Golden Features original, GURPAAL’s exhilarating remix builds with soft vocal chops and organic percussion before diving into a synth-heavy break. Including a 6-minute extended edition, GURPAAL’s ‘Touch’ remix follows an official remix by Bosnian-German DJ Solomun released earlier this month.

Regarding the remix, GURPAAL said, “As soon as I heard the original I fell in love with the main synth melody and vocals. I wanted to take those elements and push it into a more melodic space to add some more feeling to the already emotive sentiments of the track. I started playing around processing the vocal stems with a vocoder and couldn’t help but hear this narrative unfolding of a robot falling in love and wanting to experience what it would be like to be touched as a human. I lent into this as a theme for the remix, and let it guide the rest of the process. This is my musical interpretation of that story.”

The track arrives following the kickoff of Golden Features’ North American Tour, which included direct support for ODESZA at the Kia Forum, and sold-out headline shows at Catch One in Los Angeles and NOVA in San Diego. The tour continues with club stops throughout the US including Austin, Brooklyn, Toronto, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, and more.

Golden Features has turned out to be an apt name for the artist born Tom Stell. It’s a nod to the gold mask he wears while performing, but the Australian electronic producer has had a literal golden run since bursting onto the scene in 2014 with two platinum and six gold ARIA certifications for his tracks, 275+ million global streams for his music, and an acclaimed and beloved 2018 debut album SECT (#1 iTunes, Triple J’s Feature Album). Stell set out on an accompanying tour that included slots at major US festivals including Coachella Ultra Music Festival, and formed the BRONSON project and self-titled album in 2020 with stadium-conquering duo ODESZA.

GURPAAL is the new musical project and creative outlet of Brisbane based producer, Gurpaal Bains, which draws influence from the darker, more melodic and emotional sides of electronica. Inspired equally by moments of collective dance floor euphoria, escapism, and release, as well as more personal and intimate moments of introspection and reflection, the sonic world of GURPAAL aims to unify these two extremes of human experience and explore the beauty, madness, and sadness of the ethereal space in which they collide.
